Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce arithmetic quantity needed for production of picture element and to produce pictures at a high speed, by dividing a picture according to the difference of luminance to produce the luminance of picture elements at the end points of those divided picture areas respectively and interpolating the luminance of all picture elements within the areas by the luminance of the picture elements at said end points. CONSTITUTION:A picture area dividing part 1 divides a produced picture into oblong picture areas having the same luminance of picture elements. A picture element luminance producing part 2 produces the luminance of the picture elements of the key point of each picture area. An intra-picture area interpolating part 3 obtains the luminance of all picture elements in each picture area through interpolation of the luminance of the key point to store it in a frame buffer 4 and reads data out of the buffer 4 to display them at a display part 5. Thus the picture is divided into the number of areas much smaller than all picture elements of the produced picture. Therefore the picture element producing calculation frequency can be reduced and pictures are produced at a high speed.

内の全画素の輝度を、代表点の輝度より得る。4はフレ
ームバッファ、5は表示部である。以上のように構成さ
れた画像生成装置について、以下第1図および第2図を
用いてその動作を説明する。
