Traditionally, car body inspections involve cleaning and drying the bottom of a car body lifted up by a lift, then inspecting it, making adjustments and making various repairs, and then applying a primer finish and removing it from the lift after these operations are completed, all carried out in one workshop. The problem is that the work efficiency and equipment utilization rate are extremely low because it is a common practice. Therefore, a lift with both ends of an arm for supporting the vehicle body supported so as to be able to rise and fall on both legs of a gate-shaped frame was installed so that it could run freely on two rails laid on the ground in parallel. The present inventor previously proposed an automobile body inspection and maintenance facility in which a plurality of work zones are arranged along the ceiling, and an automobile body inspection and maintenance facility in which a hanger for supporting the vehicle body is suspended from a rail provided on the ceiling surface. In the former type of equipment, it is difficult to transport the self-propelled or towed car body into the portal frame for maintenance, or to send the car body out after maintenance, and the radius of curvature of the rail is large, making the entire equipment difficult. This equipment is large and expensive, and the latter equipment has the disadvantage that it causes the vehicle body lifted up on the hanger to shake.

With this structure, a car body that has been sent through a passageway A to a setting zone 6 provided at one end of a rail 2 provided on the floor of a maintenance shop is temporarily stopped in the setting zone 6. After carrying out an acceptance inspection of the vehicle body supported by the lowered vehicle body support arm 5 of the cantilevered lift 3, the lift 3 is moved as shown in FIGS.
The arm 5, which is attached to the pillar 4 so as to be able to rise and fall, is raised to lift and support the vehicle body to a required height, and the wheels are removed from the vehicle body, and the lift 3 is mounted on the top and bottom of the pillar 4 so that it can move freely. The car body is moved along the guide rail 1 on the ceiling surface and the rail 2 on the floor opposite thereto, and then transferred to the car wash/drying zone 7 provided following the setting zone 6 and stopped. The bottom of the car is washed and dried by moving forward and backward a car wash device 8 which is movably provided in the drying zone 7. Then,
With the car body supported by the arm 5, the lift 3 is moved to the inspection zone 14, which is set up following the car washing and drying zone 7, and then stopped. The braking system and suspension of the car body are then stopped by waiting inspection and adjustment workers. Vehicle bodies that require no maintenance by inspecting and adjusting equipment, transmission devices, and engine parts; Light maintenance vehicle bodies that require little time for tightening work, such as retightening and oiling; and light maintenance vehicle bodies that require constant work time such as retightening and oiling, and disassembly and welding. Check and classify vehicle bodies that require maintenance, such as those that require a lot of uncertain work time. Next, while supporting the vehicle body on the arm 5, the vehicle body is moved on the lift 3 to a repair zone 15 that is provided following the inspection zone 14, and
After installing wheels on the above-mentioned maintenance-free vehicle body that has been inspected in this zone, lower the arm 5 of the lift 3 to the floor, then remove the vehicle body from the arm 5 and pass it through the passage A from near the other end of the rail 2. The lightly repaired vehicle bodies sent to the completed vehicle storage yard and inspected in the inspection zone 14 are adjusted and maintained by workers in the repair zone 15, and then wheels are installed, and the vehicles are lowered from the lift 3 and passed through passage A to complete the vehicle. Car bodies that require long-term maintenance checked in the above-mentioned inspection zone 14 are taken off the lift 3, transported to the maintenance shop through passage A, and then maintained for a sufficient period of time. It is sent to a finished car yard. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, the lift 3 is run from one end of a narrow maintenance shop to the other, but if there is enough area in the maintenance shop, the embodiment shown in Fig. 4 can be used. As shown, the guide rail 1 and the rail 2 are made into a circulating type, and an appropriate number of work zones are provided along the rail 2, and the lift 3 is moved sequentially from the setting zone 6 to inspect and maintain the vehicle body. Of course, it is possible to do this, and in this case, it goes without saying that the receiving inspection zone 6' may be provided as a work zone separate from the setting zone 6. Therefore, when carrying out the work as described above, the lift 3 holds the upper and lower ends of the pillar 4 to which the arm 5 for supporting the vehicle body is attached so as to be able to move up and down, and connects the guide rail 1 on the ceiling and the rail on the floor opposite thereto. Because the lift 3 is mounted on the lift 2, even though it is a cantilever type, the vehicle body supported by it can always run stably without shaking.
Furthermore, the cantilever type lift 3 allows the vehicle body to be moved in and out of the lift very easily since there are no obstacles, and the guide rail 1 and the rail 2 can be moved even if the radius of curvature is relatively small. Since the lift 3 is allowed to run, the area of the maintenance shop can also be reduced.

As is clear from the description of the embodiments described above, the present invention brings an extremely large amount to the industry as an automobile body inspection and maintenance equipment that can efficiently perform inspection and maintenance of vehicle bodies in a narrow space and has an extremely low equipment cost. It is something.
