一般に塵芥焼却炉に於いては悪臭の黒煙を発生
するのが常識であるとされている。而して煙の発
生は不完全燃焼に依るからとして燃焼用空気を理
論空気量の数倍もの量を供給するようにした塵芥
焼却炉も試みられたこともあるが、塵芥焼却を無
煙になし得たものは未だに現われない。其の理由
は折角過剰に供給した空気も現に燃えている個所
に接触して之を完全燃焼させようとするのでなく
て現に燃えている個所近傍の塵芥に着火して之を
不完全燃焼させるのに役立つのみ、従つて益々多
くの煙を出すことになる。それ故無煙に燃焼を続
行させる為には一部燃焼している個所から燃焼廃
ガスを抽き出すことに依つて該燃焼個所へ所要燃
焼用空気を自然導入する作用を生ぜしめ、燃焼個
所を無暗に拡げないで当該燃焼個所のみに所要空
気を送気して其の個所を完全燃焼させるべきであ
ると考えたのであり、其の方法として現に燃焼し
ている個所から発生した燃焼ガスは順次取り除く
ようにすれば其の個所は減圧されることになる。
すると此の場合炉壁に外気採り入れ口を設けてあ
れば、空気は必要量だけ外気の採り入れ口から自

匣30の頂面には後記する集煙管26の管頂開口
端に臨む位置に煙突40を立設し、煙突の頂部に
は廃ガス洗滌装置41を附設し、外匣10の内側
には頂板21中央部に同心に内匣22を吊下げ、
内匣22の下部には同径の網筒23を吊下げて外
匣10の頂板21の前半分の部域には被燃塵芥供
給口24を設けて之を被燃塵芥供給蓋25で開閉
自在に覆蓋し、内匣22の頂板21を打抜いて其
の頂部が集煙匣30内に突出すると共に網筒23
に達する下半部には多数の通気孔27を穿設した
集煙管26を頂板21に支持させて取付け、外匣
10下部適宜位置には一次燃焼用空気入口11と
して小孔(約25mm径)を数個穿設し、上部に蒸気
入口として小孔12又は12′を穿設し、ジヤケ
ツト外匣20の外壁には切破り箇所28を設け、
之を被覆して注水匣29を取付け、斯くなされた
炉体の塵芥供給蓋25を開いて内匣22下部の網
筒23内に塵芥を投入し、外匣10下部正面の焚
口扉14を開いて其の焚口13から着火するので
ある。着火は網筒23内に投入された塵芥の下に
種火を挿入するか、或いは焚き口13から種火を
予め網筒23底におき、その上に塵芥を集積すれ
ば、被燃塵芥はガス化し、容易に着火する。そし
て着火されると煙が出て之が集煙管26下部胴壁
に穿設されてある数多の通気孔27を通つて上昇
し二次燃焼用空気入口31からの空気と混じて二
次燃焼することになる。このとき、網筒23は、
一次燃焼用空気取入口11から流入する一次空気
を内匣22内へ導入させ、内匣22内の被燃塵芥
が容易にガス化・燃焼するのに貢献する。此の廃
気を煙突40の吸引力に引かせて廃ガス洗滌装置

り、斯くすることに依りゴムタイヤを焼却しても
全く煙も臭いも出さないで処理出来る効果が得ら
