DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a vehicular structure, and more particularly, to a vehicular window structure used to construct a window located on the side of an automobile or the like.

Generally, a flat sheet of transparent synthetic resin such as polycarbonate or acrylic or inorganic glass is used as a vehicle window glass, and the peripheral edge of this flat window glass is used to form a window frame made of a sash and an elastic support. A vehicle window is formed by being inserted and supported in the central groove.

However, when using flat window glass like this, the window frame has to protrude a lot from the outside surface of the window glass, which makes it difficult to drive at 80km/h.
When traveling at such high speeds, severe air turbulence is generated between the outer surface of the window glass and the protruding window frame, which inevitably causes unpleasant wind noise.

In order to eliminate this drawback, conventionally, a window glass holding part is provided which has a fitting part that fits into the door sash and is located outside the vehicle body from the fitting part to bring the outer surface of the window glass closer to the outer surface of the door sash. It is known that holding members are attached to the front and rear of the window glass along the upper edge (Utility Model Application No. 83520/1983).

However, this method inevitably creates a step between the holding member and the outer surface of the window glass due to its thickness, which still acts to generate wind noise, so it is impossible to completely eliminate the generation of wind noise. Not only is it impossible to prevent this, but if a separate member is attached to the periphery of the window glass, it becomes an obstacle that obstructs the driver's view when the window is opened, and temperature fluctuations occur due to the difference in thermal expansion coefficient between the holding member and the window glass. Due to this change, stress may be applied to the window glass at high temperatures, causing damage to the window glass, or at low temperatures, it may shrink significantly and the holding member may fall off from the window glass.Furthermore, there is a risk that a separate member may be attached to the window glass. Naturally, this will lead to higher costs.

The object of the present invention is to provide a new vehicle window structure that can eliminate the above-mentioned problems by simply providing a stepped portion on the outer peripheral edge of the vehicle window glass that aligns with the window frame. This is the purpose.

In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the window glass according to the present invention is used in a vertically sliding opening/closing window that is widely used on the side surfaces of automobiles. Reference numeral 1 denotes a polycarbonate resin window glass on which a coating layer 6 of a surface modifier is formed to increase surface hardness and improve weather resistance and scratch resistance. A stepped portion 2 is provided along a desired peripheral edge on the outer surface side, which is formed by integral injection molding or by heating the peripheral edge. The stepped portion 2 shown in FIG.
The peripheral edge of the window glass 1 is bent inward at approximately 90 degrees to form a tangent surface, and then bent again parallel to the direction of extension of the surface of the window glass 1 to form an overhanging end. The bent surface has a window frame 3 extending from the central groove in the glass launch channel 5 to the outer edge of the sash 4.
The protrusion width is approximately the same as that of the glass launch channel 5, and the protruding end has a thickness corresponding to the groove width in the glass launch channel 5.

Since this window glass 1 is provided with the stepped portion 2 as described above, when the window is closed, the projecting end of the window glass 1 is inserted into the central groove in the glass launch channel 5. The window frame 3 is located in alignment with an outer surface edge continuous from the step 2 of the window glass 1, and the outer surfaces of the window frame 3 and the window glass 1 are located on substantially continuous and coplanar surfaces.

It should be noted that the stepped portion provided at the periphery of the window glass is sufficient as long as it can align the window frame and the window glass and provide a substantially continuous and smooth outer surface of both.
It is not necessary to have a bent shape as in the above embodiment, but it may be a shape in which a desired peripheral edge is cut out on the outer surface side of the window glass 1, as shown in FIG.
In addition, in the above embodiment, since the lower edge of the window glass is always housed within the door panel, it is necessary to provide steps only on the outer surface periphery of the upper part, both sides, and inclined parts that are inserted and supported by the window frame. However, in a fixed window whose entire edge is inserted and secured by a weather seal, it is of course desirable to provide a stepped portion on the outer surface of the entire periphery.

As described above, according to the present invention, the large protrusion of the window frame from the window glass surface is eliminated, so the generation of air turbulence is significantly reduced, and the unpleasant wind noise that conventionally was unavoidable when driving a vehicle is eliminated. It will be resolved. Moreover, since the present invention only provides a stepped portion on the outer periphery of the window glass without attaching a separate member, problems such as damaging the window glass or blocking the driver's view when the window glass is opened may occur. In addition, special improvements have been made to vehicle parts such as window frames. Since no changes are required, the problem can be solved extremely easily and at low cost.
