Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically inspect the quality of a hermetical seal part, by a method wherein linear beam is allowed to irradiate the hemetical seal part from the single side thereof, and the beam transmitted through the hermetical seal part is detected from the opposite side thereof, while the quality of the hermetical seal part is judged on the basis of the output signal of a beam detection means. CONSTITUTION:When laser beam B is allowed to irradiate a seal inferior part, refraction and scattering are generated in the beam transmitted through an upper side layer 3a at the outlet thereof, and reflection, refraction and scattering are generated on the incident surface of a lower side layer 3b and, therefore, the beam transmitted through the seal inferior part comes to beam scattered to a wide range. The quantity of beam passing through the hole 14 of a beam blocking plate 13 to be incident to a beam detector 11 is little. A judging appara tus 12 judges that there exists seal inferiority when the output signal of the detector 11 becomes smaller than a reference signal during a time when the beam B sweeps a seal part 3 to output an inferiority signal to a control unit 15.
