Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the title paste which gives a transparent insulating film having excellent transparency and film strength and high denseness with good productivity, by dissolving an organozironium compd. in an org. solvent and mixing a tackifier. CONSTITUTION:An organozirconium compd. of formula I or II wherein metallic Zr and an org. ligand are bonded to each other through an oxygen atom, which is stably dissolved in a high-boiling (180 deg.C or above) org. solvent and can be converted into an oxide at 500 deg.C or below, is dissolved in a high-boiling org. solvent such as high-boiling alcohol (e.g. benzyl alcohol) or high-boiling ester (e.g. Carbitol acetate). A cellulosic tackifier such as ethylcellulose or nitrocellu lose is kneaded with the mixture.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a transparent insulating coating for liquid crystal cells, etc., and in particular, a coating for preventing alkali ion elution from a lower substrate of a liquid crystal cell, an electrode layer formed on the substrate, and a liquid crystal layer. The present invention relates to a paste for forming a transparent insulating film for forming a transparent insulating film used as a separating insulating film, a liquid crystal alignment film in a TN type liquid crystal display device, etc.

However, the vacuum deposition method has poor productivity and tends to require large equipment. In addition, the dipping method has the disadvantage that a film is formed in unnecessary locations and cannot be applied to miniaturization of patterns.

In order to eliminate these drawbacks, attempts have been made to print a paste into a desired shape onto a substrate using screen printing, and then bake it to form a transparent insulating film, but the formed film is brittle and Often porous, the properties of the coating itself were inferior to coatings formed by vacuum evaporation or immersion.

The feature of the present invention is that metallic zir-nium and organic ligands are used as the main components of the paste for forming a transparent insulating film that is stronger and denser than the conventional transparent insulating film that is mainly composed of 5iOz. An organic zirconium (Zr) compound in which the two are bonded via oxygen is dissolved in an organic solvent, and a viscosity agent is further added and mixed. In order to be able to form a transparent insulating film by screen printing, the zirconium compound must be stably dissolved in a high boiling point (180°C or higher) organic solvent, and must be dissolved at a temperature of 500°C or lower. The zirconium compound that satisfies these conditions is Zr (
Organic zirconium compounds such as CsHyOt)IZr(CvHwCOt)+ are applicable. '7. r (Cs
Organic zirconium compounds such as HtOJ+ and Zr (CyHwCOx)4 are combined with high boiling point alcohols such as benzyl alcohol, cyfuropyrene glycol and 2-ethyl-hexyl alcohol, high boiling point esters such as benzyl acetate and carpitol acetate, and butyl cellosolve. A paste is prepared by adding a cellulose-based viscosity agent such as dissolved sase, ethyl cellulose, or nitrocellulose to a high-boiling organic solvent such as high-boiling ethers and kneading the mixture. The paste was printed on a substrate by screen printing and fired (hereinafter referred to as the margin). The resulting transparent insulating film containing ZrO2 as a main component was a dense film with good transparency and high film strength.
