Abstract

PURPOSE:To make an suppression effect upon the entrance of a sealant when a liquid crystal injection hole is sealed with the sealant, and prevent the sealant from entering a liquid crystal cell by arranging plural island-shaped bodies made of sealing members in the liquid crystal injection hole. CONSTITUTION:Linear island-shaped bodies 11 are provided in the liquid crystal injection hole on the surface of either of an upper substrate 1 and a lower substrate 2, e.g. upper substrate 1 in parallel to the liquid crystal injection hole 4. Those bodies and sealing members 3 are formed in one body by a screen printing method, etc. Further, both substrates 1 and 2 are adhered together in one body across a sealing material layer 3. The injection hole end is sealed with the organic sealant after liquid crystal is injected. The suppression effect of the island-shaped bodies operates upon the entrance of the sealant until the sealant cures to eliminate such a trouble that the sealant flows into the liquid crystal cell deeply, thereby improving the quality of a liquid crystal display panel.

In order to inject and seal a liquid crystal material into a liquid crystal cell formed by two transparent electrode substrates and a frame-shaped sealing material layer provided between them, steps 1 (a) and (b) have been performed. As shown, a method is generally adopted in which a liquid crystal material is injected through an injection hole 4 formed in a part of a sealing material layer 3, and then this injection hole 4 is sealed with an organic sealant 5. There is. However, in this method, until the sealant 5 that seals the injection hole 4 hardens, it flows deeper into the liquid crystal cell than the inner extension line of the sealant layer 3 of the injection hole 4, and the liquid crystal display This had the disadvantage of significantly lowering the display quality of the panel. Furthermore, if an attempt is made to suppress the amount of inflow of the sealant 5 by narrowing the injection hole 4 in order to eliminate this drawback, there is a problem that it takes a considerable amount of time to inject the liquid crystal material in a panel with a large display area. was occurring.

In view of this problem, an object of the present invention is to provide a liquid crystal display panel having a sealing structure that can prevent the sealant from flowing deeply into the liquid crystal cell.・According to the present invention, a part of the sealing material layer of a liquid crystal cell formed by a sealing material layer surrounding the periphery in a frame shape and two transparent electrode substrates integrally joined via this sealing material layer. In a liquid crystal display panel having a liquid crystal injection hole, a liquid crystal display panel is formed in which a plurality of island-like bodies made of sealing members are arranged in the liquid crystal injection hole, so that a liquid crystal display having a sealing structure with excellent display quality is formed. This made it possible to provide display panels.

以下、本発明について図面に基づいて詳細に説明する。Hereinafter, the present invention will be explained in detail based on the drawings.

FIGS. 2(a) and 2(b) are a plan view and a side view showing an embodiment of the liquid crystal display panel of the present invention, with the main parts thereof being enlarged. On one of the upper substrate 1 and the lower substrate 2 provided with transparent electrodes, for example, on the surface of the upper substrate 1, a linear island-like body 11 is provided inside the liquid crystal injection hole 4 in a direction parallel to the liquid crystal injection hole 4. and a frame-shaped sealing material layer 1 are integrally formed by screen printing or the like, and further, this sealing material layer 3 is

By arranging the linear island-shaped body 11 inside the liquid crystal injection hole 4 in this way, when the liquid crystal injection hole 4 is sealed with the sealant 5, the inflow of the sealant can be suppressed. This effect works and can prevent the sealant 5 from reaching the inside of the liquid crystal cell. - In the other embodiment shown in FIG. 3, a dot-shaped island 12 is arranged inside the liquid crystal injection hole 4, but in addition to this, various shapes are arranged inside the liquid crystal injection hole 4. Needless to say, the effect of suppressing the inflow of the sealant during sealing can be similarly exerted by arranging island-like bodies.

As described above, according to the present invention, the island-like body is arranged inside the liquid crystal injection hole formed in a part of the frame-shaped sealing material layer that seals the liquid crystal material injected into the inside of the liquid crystal cell. Therefore, when the end of the injection hole is sealed with an organic sealant after injecting the liquid crystal material, the island-like body has a suppressing effect on the inflow of the sealant until the sealant hardens. This eliminates the problem of the liquid crystal flowing deeply into the liquid crystal cell, making it possible to improve the quality of the liquid crystal display panel. In addition, when forming a panel with a large display area, in order to shorten the injection time of liquid crystal material,
Even if the liquid crystal injection hole is enlarged, problems such as poor sealing due to overflow of the sealant can be solved due to the suppressing effect of the islands.
