Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain adequate reproducing conditions for an optical information recording medium in the stage of reproducing information from the optical information recording medium having a recording medium contg. an org. dye by maintaining the temp. of the recording layer during irradiation of reproducing light so as not to exceed the m.p. and thermal decomposition point of the recording layer. CONSTITUTION:The scanning speed, power and beam diameter of the reproducing light are set in such a manner that the temp. of the recording layer contg. the org. dye do not exceed the m.p. and/or the sublimation point and/or the thermal decomposition point of the recording layer and the other layer to be provided according to need in the stage of reproducing the information from the optical information recording medium having said recording layer. The easy setting of the reproducing conditions adequate for the optical information recording medium is thus made possible regardless of the kind of the org. dye recording material to be used for the recording layer.

Conventionally, optical information recording media have been produced by forming a thin film layer of a low-melting metal, mainly tellurium, as a recording layer on a glass or plastic substrate, and forming four parts (pits) on the principle of melting and evaporation using a beam laser beam. A method for recording information has been used. On the other hand, when reproducing information from such a recording medium, the reproducing conditions are set so that the temperature of the recording layer does not exceed the melting point or phase transition point of the recording material, and the laser output during recording is lowered to reduce the intensity of reflected light depending on the presence or absence of pits. This is done by detecting the However, when an organic dye material as previously proposed by the present inventors is used in the recording layer, the melting point of the dye material may not necessarily be confirmed, and the current situation is that the playback conditions for a multimetal thin film layer cannot be directly applied. It is.

We focused on the fact that it is not possible to appropriately set information reproduction conditions just by considering the melting point as with conventional metal recording materials, and as a result of examining various dye materials, we found that The present inventors have discovered that when the temperature of the recording layer exceeds the melting point and/or sublimation point and/or thermal decomposition point of the recording layer and other layers, reproduction deterioration significantly increases.

That is, in the present invention, when reproducing information from an optical information recording medium having a recording layer containing an organic dye, the temperature of the recording layer at the time of irradiation with reproduction light is equal to or lower than the melting point of the recording layer and other layers provided as necessary. An object of the present invention is to provide a method for reproducing an optical information recording medium, characterized in that the scanning speed, power, and beam diameter of reproducing light are set so as not to exceed either a sublimation point and/or a thermal decomposition point. Examples of layers other than the recording layer include a pregroove layer, an undercoat layer, and a protective layer.

The reflectance and transmittance of the recording layer at a wavelength of 790 nm were 29% and 15%, respectively. Next, the specific heat, specific gravity, and thermal conductivity of the substrate are 1.5 J, zt・deg, respectively.

・sec・deg, and the specific heat and specific gravity of the recording layer are made the same as those of the substrate considering the thin film thickness, and the temperature of the recording layer when the recording medium is irradiated with reproduction light is calculated using a one-dimensional heat conduction equation. Calculated (numerical calculation using difference-like approximation). The results are shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. This result shows that a one-dimensional approximation can provide a good approximation because the recording layer is thin and the reproduction light irradiation time is short. Furthermore, because of the -dimensionality, the results always appear lower than the actual results, so the scanning speed, power, and beam diameter of the reproduction light can be selected using the results shown in the figure.
