Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 この発明は特にレーザ光磁気記録に適した磁気記録再生
装置に関する。
レーザ光磁気記録は高密度記録が可能であるが、再生は
通常ヘッドでは一般に困難である。そこで再生に偏波レ
ーザ光を用いて、カー効果またはファラデー効果による
偏波面の回転を検出し再生出力を得る他はない。しかし
ながら、通常の光磁気記録媒体はキューリー店が低いも
のを用いる関係上、偏波面の回転はl の数分の1程度
しかなく、再生出力のS/Nは不良である。そこで、ガ
ーネット等に一度記録を転写して、ガーネットの大きい
ファラデー効果を利用して大きい偏波面回転角を得て良
好なS/Nを得ることが試みられている。しかし、こと
方法はガーネットと磁性媒体の摺動転写による損耗、あ
るいは密着転写後はがして再生に使うなど不便であった
この発明は上記の欠点のない転写再生方法を提供する。
第1図は本発明説明図を承け。1は磁気テープ、あるい
はディスク類で、光磁気記録に適するキュー゛リーを持
ち高密度記録さるている。2はガーネット膜なとて必要
に応じ昇温あるいは磁界手段7を用いて、記録を転写す
る。3は再生用レーザで偏光器4を通ったビーム8は2
を照射し、反射ビーム8′は検光器5を経て光電変換素
子6に入る従来の再生装置である、図ではレンズ系は省
略した。この場合2と1とは摺動するので損傷が起り易
い。もし間隙を設けると高域周波数が失われる。
第2図は本発明実施例を示す。ガーネット膜は円筒13
上に12の如くつけられ、軸10を中心としながら転写
される。従フて、摺動部がなく密着転写できる。17は
第1図7に対応する加熱あ゛るいは磁界手段ど、1に対
すぼ一定位置におく。
15は消去ヘッドである。円筒13の矢印の如き回転に
応じレーザ3とビーム8は反射されて8′となり、光電
変換器6に大きいS/Nの出力を与える。
第2図のような再生装置はカーネッ!・膜や磁性媒体の
損傷を最低に押えることができることは明らかである。
ガーネット膜は円筒上に限らず、エンドレスベルト上に
生成してもよい。円筒やベルト状体上に周知の拡散蒸着
法その他によって生成できる。エンドレスベルトの場合
はベルトの曲りが繰返えされるので、ガーネット膜は余
り厚く着けられない。
本発明は上記特定例に限らず種々の変形が可能である。

  1. 磁性記録媒体と、該記録媒体の記録を転写するよう配置
    されたエンドレス状転写媒体と、該転写媒体に光ビーム
    を当てる手段と、該光ビームの反射光における偏波面の
    回転を検出する手段とを備えた磁気記録再生装置。
