Their use as an image display device to replace the cathode ray tube in televisions has been attracting attention, but one challenge is to find a technology to widen the narrow range of clear viewing angles, which is a disadvantage of liquid crystal display devices.

, 4, with a liquid crystal 3 sealed between them, and a deflection plate 1 attached to the outside of two glasses 2 and 4 with their deflection axes shifted by 90 degrees from each other.
It consists of 5.

As shown, the molecules of liquid crystal 3 are regularly arranged in the same direction as the rubbing direction, and the incident light that enters the liquid crystal display device at right angles is transmitted through the two glasses.
The liquid crystals 3 arranged parallel to the planes 2 and 4 are deflected, and light passes through the liquid crystal display device. This time two pieces of glass -2
, 4, when a voltage exceeding the threshold of the liquid crystal is applied, in the case of a liquid crystal with positive anisotropy, the molecules align in the direction perpendicular to the two glasses -2 and 4. In contrast, since the incident light from the light source passes through as is, the incident light is blocked by the two polarizing plates -1 and 5 which are shifted by 90 degrees from each other. Therefore, an arbitrary image can be obtained on the liquid crystal display device depending on whether or not a voltage is applied to the transparent electrode formed depending on the purpose of display. In such conventional liquid crystal display devices, there is a limit to the direction of clear vision, and the more you look away from the direction of the liquid crystal molecules arranged at right angles to the two glasses 2 and 4, the more normal the image will look. Especially when used as an image display device such as a television, it becomes difficult to view due to the limited viewing angle.

It is an unfolded liquid crystal display device.

, 4 is deflected by the molecules of the liquid crystal 6 arranged parallel to each other, and the light passes through the deflection plate 6, but the τ light is dispersed by the fine irregularities formed on the surface of the deflection plate 6. , the range of clear viewing angles is widened [effect] The present invention is intended to improve the narrow range of clear viewing angles for use in image display devices such as Levy cathode ray tubes. This has the effect of making it easier to realize a portable television that takes advantage of its advantages of low power consumption and thinness.
