In the engine valve system, a rocker arm on the high-speed cam side is driven by a high-speed cam that has a cam profile for high-speed engine operation, and swings, and a low-speed cam that is driven by a low-speed cam that has a cam profile for low-speed engine operation. The valve includes a swinging low-speed cam-side rocker arm, and a swingable valve-side rocker arm that is disposed adjacent to the high-speed cam-side rocker arm and the low-speed cam-side rocker arm and engages with the stem portion of the valve. In order to control the operation, a tenth lever arm engagement/disengagement mechanism is provided for connecting or disengaging the high speed cam side rocker arm and the valve side rocker arm, and also for connecting or disengaging the low speed cam side rocker arm and the valve side rocker arm. A valve control device for an engine valve system, characterized in that a 20th lever arm engaging/disengaging mechanism is provided.
