Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent abnormal abrasion such as scuffing caused by sliding of a compound layer by removing a compound layer which is the upper layer portion of a nitriding layer and then plating or flame spraying a diffusion layer which is the lower layer portion thereof. CONSTITUTION:A nitriding layer 2 is disposed on the whole surface of a piston ring 1. As a compound layer 21 which is the upper layer portion of the nitriding layer 2 on the outer surface 11 of the piston ring 1 is not suitable for plating and flame spraying and not required, the compound layer is removed by polishing or the like, and then plating or flame spraying layer 3 is disposed on a diffusion layer 22 which is the lower layer portion of the compound layer 21.

メッキ等の摩耗が著しい。

の使用にたえる。又、上手面の窒化層は、拡散層上にメ
ッキ、溶射を施J場合及びリング摺動向に直接メッキ、
溶射を施′81場合いずれにa3いても上下面の叩かれ
摩耗を防止し、かつ相采効果によって摺動面の耐摩耗性
をも向」二させる。
