層21の下層部である拡散層22上にメツキ又は

以上述べた如く、窒化層の上層部である化合物

よるスカツフイング等の異常摩耗を防止し、又、
拡散層をも除去した後、母材上にメツキ又は溶射
を施す事により硬質層が薄い拡散層をそのまま摺
動させる場合よりも長時間の使用にたえる。又、
上下面の窒化層は、拡散層上にメツキ、溶射を施
す場合及びリング摺動面に直接メツキ、溶射を施
す場合いずれにおいても上下面の叩かれ摩耗を防
止し、かつ相乗効果によつて摺動面の耐摩耗性を
も向上させる。

【特許請求の範囲】 1 鋳鉄又は鋼製ピストンリングの全表面に窒化
処理を施し、更に外周面は窒化処理層から化合物
層を除去して拡散層を露出させた後、該拡散層上
にメツキ又は溶射を施す事を特徴とするピストン
リング。 2 前記ピストンリングに於て、外周面より更に
拡散層をも除去して母材を露出させ該母材上にメ
ツキ又は溶射を施す事を特徴とする第1項記載の
ピストンリング。
