Abstract

PURPOSE:The titled composition, containing a powdered zedoary or an extract thereof with an aqueous solvent as an active constituent, and capable of exhibiting improved effect on prevention and treatment of periodontitis, e.g. pyrrhoea alveolaris or gingivitis, etc. CONSTITUTION:A dentifrice composition containing a powdered zedoary (Curcuma zedoaria Roscoe) or an extract thereof with an aqueous solvent, e.g. ethanol, as an active constituent. Periodontitis is generally started in the inflammation in the periodontal tissue to cause the redness, swelling and bleeding of the gum, and chronic progress thereof forms the so-called periodontal pocket between teeth. Thus, the deflection of teeth and bad breath are caused to proceed into pyrrhoea alveolaris. 小さくし、歯肉をひきしめ、出血を止める作用を有する
ことが判明した。

)にきわめて顕著な効果が観察された。
