生理用ナプキン、おむグ、あるいは傷手当用品等の衛生
用品は全て、類似の構造から成っている。
すなわち、これらの衛生用品は、律体透鍋性カバー、吸
収性マ）　ＩＪラックス母材）及び流体不透過性バッフ
ルを有する。流体透過性カバーは排出オリフィスに隣接
しており、且つ流体を迅速に通溝させて吸収性マトリッ
クスに送るように設計されていることはもちろんである
。排出険が多いような時、特に月経液のような比較的、
粘度の高い流体が排出される場合、流体がカバーの材質
の表面を回避して流れたり、あるいは様々な隙間を伝わ
るため吸収性マトリックスの中に移動していかないこと
が多々起きる。
この間踊は従来より認識されており、ラップの特性の一
つを利用することによって処理されている。おむつや、
失禁用パッド、さらに生理用ナプキンや傷手当用品に用
いられるラップは従来より不織合成材料であった。また
、これ′らの衛生用品に用いられるバックルは従来より
熱可塑性シートであった。
流体の流出を防止する方法の７つが、米国特許第３．２
９タθ９７号及び第タλＯθ１０３号に開示されている
。これらの米国特許による方法では、熱可塑性バッフル
は衛生用品の底部のみでなく側部にも配置されており、
且つ頂部の縦方向縁部を覆っている。そして、バッフル
はラップと融合して流体移動バリヤー（遮断域）を与え
ている。またナプキンの縁を封止するのにも溶融処理が
行なわれる。斯かるナプキンの７例が米国特許第ｉｉｏ
ｓｑｉｉｔｉ−号に開示されている。また生理用ナプキ
ン、特にパンティーシールド型の薄形ナプキン上にエン
デス処理を施こして、吸収性材料のバット（詰綿）を保
全することも周知である。斯かるナプキンの７例が米国
特許第３．　ｇ　ｇ　／　＋９θ号に開示されてる。
米国特許第３．　、２　９　＠　０　９　／号に開示さ
れているような渡体透過性ラップをナプキンの頂部にお
いて流体不透堝性バックルと融合させる従来技術は、溶
融エレメントを正確に位ＩＷ決めさせなければならず、
またナプキンを組立てた後に実施しなければならなかっ
た。従って、エレメントの全てを適正に位置決めして均
一なバリヤーラインを形成することは極めて困難になる
。また斯かる方法は融合処理に必要な加熱によって下層
の吸収材の吸収症力を損なう傾向がある。バリヤーの位
置決めはバックルの位置決めの精度にも依存しており、
且つバリヤーの位置はバッフルの様々な考えられる構成
や位置によっても決められてしまう。
本発明によると、流体透過性ラップが、予め所定位置に
溶融形成されたバリヤーを有し、且つそのバリヤーの位
置において衛生用品の他の構成要素にも融合していない
衛生用品が得られる。溶融処理は、ラップがウェブ状で
送られて来る時に適用され、従って、ウェブの製造工程
中に適用されることもあり得る。かくして、そのような
溶融処理により、任意め所定．の・母ターンが所定位置
に施される．熱可塑性材料を溶融することは周知であり
、溶融工程の実施方法そのものは本発明の思想の一部で
はない。衛生用品の場合、溶融形成されたバリヤーは、
°流体透過性ラップが適用された後、衛生用品の側部か
もしくは端部に西装置されてもよい。
あるいは、該バリヤーは衛生用品の内部にその外周から
適当な距離で陪てて縮量された連続的なバリヤ一層とし
て存在させてもよい。（生理用ナプキンの場合、この距
離は一般的に％インチ（　０．６　３！；ａｎ　）以下
である。）以下、本発明を図面に沿って説明する。
第２図から分るように、不織材料！０のロールがエンが
ス面１４を有するエンがスロール１３を通るように駆動
されている。ウェブ１２の上の溶融バリヤー２イン１ｌ
は所定位置に形成される。
か＜シて１エンがス゛ロールｌ３によってウェブが搬送
されて、衛生用品（例えばナノキ／）の他の構成要素と
係合される際に、包装され、切断され、月つ位置合わせ
が行なわれて、然るべき形状のバリヤ一層が得られる。
類似の構成は例えば、第１図に示されている。この第１
図では、バリヤーによってナシキン１５の外周から内方
に位置している完結した内部ライン１１を形成されてい
る。
このようにして溶融形成されたラインは流体の流出に対
して、又、吸上移動に関連する現像に対してバリヤーを
形Ｔ！すする性質がある。この溶融金ラインを形成させ
るに際して、ラップを生理用ナプキン上の所定の位ｒに
置いて融着させようとするとき発生するような工程上の
困難は存しない。
なお、傷手当用品、おむつ、失禁用ガーメント等の他の
衛生用１品も本発明による上官ｅの技術の利益をこうむ
ることができ、且つこれらの衛生用品の全ても本発明の
範囲内にあることを留意すべきである。
流体透過性外部ラップは、本質的に熱可塑性であるが、
完全に熱可塑性である必要はなく、実際は少くとも部分
的に吸収性があっても良い。特に有益な材料の７つは本
明細書に参照用に挙げられた米国特許第η１０θ３２’
１号に開示されている。
この特許に開示されているのは、熱可塑性微小縁れるウ
ェブ状の材料である。このような空気形成式ウェブの吸
収郁力は、その中に存在するセルロース材料の量に依存
して変化する。斯かる複数成分を共存させた空気形成型
材料の場合においてし友２、溶融処理はウェブ自体の一
体性を保つのに役立つ。
米国特許第Ｑ　／　００．３２　ｌ１号に開示されてい
る材料のような吸収性カバー材料を用いる本発明の別の
実施例では、吸収性タオル、すなわち、該タオルの縁端
部から内方に形成された領域内に液体を実質的に完全に
保持できる吸収性タオルを製造することができる。この
ような技術思想も本発明の範囲内にある。
複数の成分を共存させた空気形成式材料は吸収能を持ち
且つある特定の利点を有するが、本発明の教示によると
熱可塑性流体透過性ラップならばいかなるラップでも用
いることができる。この可融性熱可塑性ウェブの固有の
性質は、その最終用途に基づいていることはもちろんで
ある。

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 （１）可融性熱可塑性材料を含有し、溶融によって予め
    形成された所定の・母ターンを有することを特徴とする
    流体透過性ラップ。 １２１　　可融性間−熱可塑性材料を含有し、溶閉によ
    って予め形成された所定の／４’ターンを有することを
    特徴とする流体吸収性ワイ・や。 （３）特許請求の範囲第（１）項記載のラップを有する
    ことを特徴とする生理用ナグキ／。 （４）特許請求の範囲第（１）項記載のラップを有する
    ことを特徴とするおむつ。 （５）特許請求の範囲第（１）項記載のラップを有する
    ことを特徴とする失禁用ガーメント。 （６）前記熱可塑性材料が吸収性繊維と組合わせて用い
    られることを特徴とする特許゛請求の範囲第（２）項、
    第（３）項、笛（４）項又は第（５）項記載のラップ。 （７）流体透過性ラップ、吸収性マトリックス、及び流
    体不透過性バッフルを有し、上記ラップが　　□可融性
    熱可塑性材料を含有する衛生用品の製造方法において、 イ）熱可塑性材料のウェブの上の所定位ＷＩＫ所宇ノや
    ターンを溶融形成させる工程、及び口）衛生用品の仲の
    構成要素の回りを前記ラップで封止して、前記所定／ぐ
    ターンによって形成されるバリヤーの存する位置におい
    ては、前記ラッグと前記衛生用品の仙の構成要素とが融
    着しないように該ラップ忙該構成要素を取付ける工程、 を含むことを特徴とする製造方法。
