PURPOSE:To improve the segregation of grain size inside a tower by an alternate turning action by using a charger provided with plural chutes in which a guide plate by which the falling direction of powdery granules is regulated is attached to a running and vertically movable supporter provided between the tower with an upper opening and a charging hopper. CONSTITUTION:When charging red-heated coke, a supporter 4 is lifted through a lift roller 8 to separate a furnace cover 7 from a water shield groove 6, the supporter 4 is run, and then the first chute 5 is stopped right above a cooling tower 3. Then, the supporter 4 is lowered, the skirt part of the chute 5 is put in the groove 16, and then a bucket 1 charged with a red heated coke is landed on a charging hopper 2. Then, the lower door of the bucket 1 is opened, the coke is charged into a tower 3, and the second chute 6 is positioned between the hopper 2 and the tower 3 by the same operation to charge the coke inside the bucket 1 into the tower 3. In this way, the segregation of the grain size of powdery granules in the bucket 1 can be improved by the coke into the tower 3 by changing one layer each time for every operation.
