Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the breaking strength of a rotor coupling terminal by applying a surface hardening layer on the surface of a coupling section and shrinkage fitting a coupling on the layer to fix it.
CONSTITUTION: After high frequency quenching or nitriding process is applied on the surface layer of a rotor axle terminal, a coupling 3 is shrinkage fitted. Prior to shrinkage fitting, tempering process of a quenching section 2 is more effective. In case of flame quenching, only a surface layer section 2 is heated and cooled rapidly, the same as high frequency quenching. Accordingly, a high compressed residual stress is generated on the surface layer section of the rotor, and also the surface layer section is hardened, thus the strain strength and the fretting characteristic of a rotor coupling terminal 5 are improved and the breaking strength is enhanced.
