Abstract

PURPOSE: To adhere paint film tightly and prevent exfoliation by applying plating on a steel plate to be plated finished to prescribed surface roughness, and finishing the plated surface to prescribed surface roughness.
CONSTITUTION: A steel plate to be plated is immersed in, for example, a dilute nitric acid soln., to roughen its surface to 5W20μm Rmax (height from the bottom of the trough of ruggedness up to the peak of the crest). Next, this rough surface is applied with, for example, zinc plating, whereby a plated surface having the surface roughness of 5W20μm Rmax is obtained. Thence, this rough plated surface is applied with, for example, cation electrodeposition painting. The resultant film adheres well to the steel plate and does not easily peel, and therefore, superior durability is obtained.
