Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent defectives of lengthwise curvature and circumferential roundness generated in cooling a steel pipe, by sticking a hard oxidized film uniformly by controlling the oxygen concentration of the atmosphere of a furnace during a heating and soaking treatment of the steel pipe. CONSTITUTION:When a steel tube to be treated is heated to an austenite region, the oxygen concentration of the atmosphere in a furnace is controlled to 0.2- 2.0%. In this heating and soaking treatment, a hard, hardly-peeled oxidized film is formed on the surface of the steel pipe to the overall length and overall circumference. Consequently, the oxidized film never peels off in a process of forced cooling after the heating, eliminating irregularity of a cooling speed. Therefore, defectives of curvature and roundness generated in the forced cooling are minimized.
