Abstract

CONSTITUTION: An amino carboxylic acid of the formula (wherein R1 is H, C1W12 straight or branched hydrocarbon group; R2 is C4 or higher divalent hydrocarbon group; 4 or more carbon atoms in a streight chain intervene between R1- CH(NH2)- and -COOH; the sum of carbon number of R1 and R2 is 18 or less) is used as a latent hardener for epoxy resins. Preferable amino acid is 6-aminocarproic acid. A hardener may be added to an epoxy resin in a proportion of active hydrogen in the hardener to an epoxy group in the epoxy resin of 0.5W1.5 to cure for 1W20hr at 140W200°C.
EFFECT: The resulting epoxy resin is superior in flexibility, adhesiveness and heat shock resistance.
