Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the fatigue of a photoreceptor on which a charge carrier generation layer and a charge transfer layer are laminated, and to lower a residual potential, by performing light irradiation for the image exposure of the photoreceptor, erasing exposure, etc., entirely or partially by using light which does not includes light in a wavelength range that the charge transfer layer absorbs.
CONSTITUTION: A photoreceptor is formed by laminating a charge carrier generation layer (CGL)2 and a charge carrier transfer layer (CGL)3 on a conductive base 1 or by further providing an insulating layer on the CTL3. Then, light irradiation for image exposure, erasing exposure, transfer, destaticization, exposure before cleaning, etc., is performed entirely or partially by using light which does not includes light (e.g. light with ≥460nm wavelength when the CTL contains a charge transfer substance shown by the formula) is a wavelength range that the CTL3 absorbs. Consequently, the spectral separation of the CT substance of the CTL layer 3 is prevebted to eliminate the generation of carriers. Therefore, a residual potential is lowered and a charge potential is stabliized to reduce the optical fatigue of the photoreceptor, improving durability.
