Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the thickness of a cable sheath accurately by obtaining a jet nozle which supplies a jet flow to the transmission and reception surface of a transducer and removes an obstacle to a reflected wave of an ultrasonic wave. CONSTITUTION:A jet nozzle 10 is provided for the wave transmission and reception surface 7 of a transducer 5 installed in a cooling tank 3, and from a supply pipe 11 coupled with its rear end, water having proper hydraulic pressure is fed so as to remove an obstacle to a reflected wave by an ultrasonic wave cable 2, such as air bubbles and fur, stuck to the wave transmission and reception surface 7. Consequently, the thickness of the sheath 1 of the cable 2 is measured accurately.
