Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the excessive increase in the temperature of a recording heat and to decrease the degradation of picture quality by monitoring the temperature of a thermal head and picture data and determining data by thinning the recording by the combination of both. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal C is given to a picture signal converter 4 as a recording signal l through a thinning control circuit 10. The thinning control device 10 is constituted by a black rate detector 11, a judging circuit 12, and a thinning circuit 13. The picture signal C is held for one period in the black rate detector 11, and applied to a counter CO1 at the time of black 1. The output of F3 indicates the magnitude of the black rate. An output Q is applied to the judging circuit as a thinning signal g. A temperature judging circuit 7 is constituted by two comparators CP1 and CP2, and their outputs d and e are applied to the judging circuit 12 which is constituted by an AND gate A2 and an OR gate R2. The thinning requirement is judged in the circuit 12, and a command signal i is given to the thinning circuit 13. When i=''0'', the input picture signal C itself is a recording picture signal l. When i=''1'', the picture signal C is thinned during the period an output pulse j of pulse generator PG is a ''1''.
