Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a stable and equalized heated state of cut material in the method of heat cutting a hard-to-cut work of heat resistant steel or the like, by eliminating an overheat state in a notched part at cutting work, that is, by coating the notched part of the cut material with a metal of different kind.
CONSTITUTION: A plasma torch 3 is moved along a cut work 1 to perform cutting work while successively heating a surface of the work. Here a notched part of hole, groove, slit, etc. in the work 1 is coated by good cutting quality metal 7 of different kind to form the heated surface to a flat state, then turbulence of a plasma arc 5 is not caused to obtain a stably heated state. Further the metal of different kind 7, being useful also for heat conduction, prevents a notched edge part 8 of the work from being overheated, then a heated state in heat cutting work can be stabilized. Further the metal 7 of different kind, being of good cutting quality, can reduce a heat shock, then chipping is less generated in a cutting edge, thus the life of a cutting tool can be improved.
