Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove the dilution of components between base material and padding metal, and to manufacture padded metal mold of high quality at a low cost in a short time, by utilizing soft plasma padding process of inverse polarity to the surface of base material.
CONSTITUTION: A metal different from base material and has higher resistance to burning or sliding property than those of copper-aluminum base material is padded on the surface of metallic base material of metal mold by soft plasma process of inverse polarity. This method allows to control energy distribution of arc on the surface of the base material by varying the dispersion of arc, hence cutting of the base material is controlled, consequently padding bead having little macro-penetration is obtained. Metal mold which can be used without losing the properties of pad metal only with one layer of padding is manufactured by this method.
