Abstract
-,Usage: with welding equipment. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION: A method for electron beam cutting of sheet metal under zero gravity conditions provides for reliable retention of the melted metal on one edge of the cut and the formation of a smooth surface on the other edge. This is achieved due to the forced temperature gradient when one of the edges is overheated by the predominant action of an electron beam on it, achieved by tilting the electron beam gun with respect to the cut product. 1 ill. -,
Description
The invention relates to welding equipment, in particular to the technology of electron beam cutting, mainly sheet metal, and can be used in space conditions .. i
An object of the present invention is to improve the quality of cutting of sheet products under zero gravity conditions.
The drawing shows a diagram of the process. When electron beam cutting, the cut product is first burned, and during the cutting process, the beam is directed to one of the side edges of the cut at an angle of 25-65 °, the tilt of the electron beam gun. To do this, initially a stationary gun is located perpendicular to the cut sheet and metal is burned. Then, by changing the angle of inclination of the gun relative to the sheet, the beam is directed mainly to one of the edges, starting relative movement of the beam and the workpiece, the angle of inclination depending on the thickness and thermal conductivity of the metal being cut. Reliable retention of molten metal at the colder edge of the cut is achieved; surface tension forces. In this case, the warmer edge of the cut remains clean, suitable without further machining for subsequent welding.
The achievement of a positive effect in the implementation of the proposed method is confirmed by experiments carried out in ground-based pressure chambers, in pressure chambers placed at a flying laboratory during short-term zero gravity, and during testing of a universal hand-held electron-beam instrument at Salyut-7 orbital station. The experiments were carried out with stainless steels and titanium alloys.
