Abstract
PURPOSE:To elevate the accuracy by surveying the submarine topography at measuring points from the depth and the position at a fixed point and the measuring points with a depth gauge and a position gauge sunk. CONSTITUTION:A depth gauge 1 and a position gauge 2 carried in a box body measure the depth and the horizontal position at a point C of the sea bottom and transmit the data to a measuring ship 5. The ship 5 determines the depth and the absolute position at the point C from the data and the horizontal position data at other fixed points. With the traction of a cable 4, the box body 3 is towed to other points to repeat the same operation. This operation is performed repeatedly over the entire sea area to be measured thereby surveying the submarine topography.
