Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform the wide scope geodetic survey through a simple constitution by a method wherein a magnetic wave range finder for surveying the distance by means of the propagation time and speed of magnetic waves on board a balloon is floated into the sky from a master station and its slave station to perform geodetic survey. CONSTITUTION:A ship or a buoy is placed at a point to be surveyed on the sea and a master station 6 is installed thereon. This master station 6 consists of magnetic transponders 5a-5c and a balloon mooring winch 3 for mooring a balloon station. A magnetic wave range finder is installed on the balloon 1a of the balloon station, which is floated from the master station 6, is moored to the winch 3 by mooring cables. On the other hand, a slave station 7 is installed at a datum point on land or on the sea and a balloon station composed of a similar balloon 1b is floated from this slave station 7. The relative distance between the point A to be surveyed and the balloon 1a is surveyed with the magnetic wave range finder 4 and further, at the slave station side, the relative distance between the datum point B and the balloon 1b is surveyed. Next, the relative distance between the balloon 1a and the balloon 1b is surveyed through the magnetic range finder and therewith, the distance between the point A to be surveyed and the data point B is surveyed.
