Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the reliability and accuracy by processing the signal of the ultrasonic wave received with a plurality of hydrophones provided on the bottom of an oceanic investigation ship that is emitted from a beacon transmitter or a transponder provided at a given position of a cable extended to the bottom of the sea. CONSTITUTION:A beacon transmitter or a transponder 18 are mounted at a position several 100 meters separated from the specified point of a cable 17 for lowering a survey device 15 deep down the sea or to the bottom of the deep sea. Hydrophones 7 installed on an oceanic investigation ship detect the relative positional relationship between the device 15 and the ship 12, and controls the propulsion driving gear so that the ship is maintained constantly at the target position.
