Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of the data readout of a magnetic disk device by counting the frequency of rereading operation and recording the data of an error track on a substitute track when the count value exceeds a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:Readout data from a magnetic disk device 3 is sent to a demodulating circuit 4 and if a data readout error occurs, an error detecting circuit 5 generates a readout error signal (b). Then, a counter circuit 8 counts the frequency of rereading operation until the demodulating circuit 4 restores the data of an error track to proper data, and a signal which corresponds to the frequency of rereading operation is inputted to a comparator 9. A signal which corresponds to the predetermined frequency of rereading operation is sent from a reference circuit 10 to the comparator 9 as its reference signal and when the frequency counted by the circuit 8 is greater than the predetermined frequency, a substitute track generating circuit 11 is operated to send a substitute track generation instruction to a central processor 1.
