Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a coloring density which is sufficient for its pratical use, driven by low voltage, by using a halogenated substance layer containing sufficient water for supplying a cation and an anion to a reduction coloring EC substance and an oxidation coloring EC substance, respectively. CONSTITUTION:On the first substrate 11, the first electrode 12 is vapor-deposited, on which a reduction coloring EC substance (WO3, MoO3, Nb2O3V2O5, etc.) layer 13, a halogenated substance (LiI, LiF, NaF, KF, etc.) layer 14 and an electronic conduction blocking layer (SiO, Ta2O5, ZrO2, TiO2, etc.) 15 are laminated and formed in order. Also, in the same way, the second electrode 12 is formed on the second substrate, on which an oxidation coloring EC substance [Ir(OH)n, Rh(OH)n, NiO, etc.] layer 18 is formed by means of ion plating in (H2O) gas plasma. The first substrate and the second substrate are made to press-contact with each other so that the laminated surfaces are opposed. The electronic conduction stopping layer elevates the coloring charge effect.
