Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a small-sized transmission with an electromagnetic clutch capable of freely switching the turning direction of an output shaft provided on the axle of an input shaft either normally or reversely and also of increasing the ratio of speed of normal turning to increased speed at the time of reversed turning.
CONSTITUTION: A reversible electromagnetic clutch 10 consists of electromagnetic clutches A and B for normal and reverse turning and an accelerating gear C. When applying external driving force through an input gear 18, a normally turning rotor 16, an input shaft 14, and a flat gear 32 turn integrally with the input gear 18. The turning of the flat gear 32 is transmitted, after being accelerated, to a reverse- turning armature 52 through flat gears 38, 40, 44, and 48. When a normal-turning coil 24 is energized and the armature 26 is magnetically attracted on a rotor 16, the output shaft 12 turns in the same direction as the rotor 16. On the other hand, when a reverse-turning coil 60 is energized, the armature 52 is attracted on the reversely turning rotor 52 and the output shaft 12 is acceleratedly turned in the reverse direction.
