Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent an axial movement of a spline upon transmitting a torque by a simple constitution wherein protuberances are provided on surfaces of teeth of the spline.
CONSTITUTION: A spline coupling for torque transmission is transmitting the torque by moving a gear 3 on the spline shaft 1 by an operation of a fork (not shown) to engage the gear 3 with a gear 6. In this case, forces shown by arrow signs C, D are acting between a gear surface 2a of the shaft 1 and a gear surface of the gear 3 in the spline. However, only a frictional force between the gear surface 2a and the gear surface of the gear 3 is acting as a resisting force against movements in directions shown by an arrow sign E or opposite E, therefore, the gear 3 can be moved to a position shown by the broken lines when an external force bigger than the frictional force described above is exerted. In order to prevent this movement, protuberances 5 are provided on the gear surfaces 2a of the spline of the spline shaft 1 near an intermediate position between meshing and nonmeshing positions of the gear 3 and the gear 6.
