Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a frame from being strained due to temperature, by attaching constant-temperature liquid passage pipes to the frame and control-ling the temperature, flow rate or flow velocity of constant-temperature liquid so that the difference between the temperature of the liquid at the feed side and that of the liquid at the return side is constant. CONSTITUTION:A U-shaped frame 3, which supports and guides a wire 5 for effecting spark erosion on a work 12 which is moved by a table 11, is coated with a heat insulator 4. Pipes 13, 14 for circulating constant-temperature liquid are provided in the upper and lower parts of the frame 3. The constant-temperature liquid is circulated by a pump 16 through the pipes 13, 14 and a tank 15 provided with a cooling or heating coil. Temperature detectors 21, 22 measure the temperature of the liquid in the return and feed parts of the circulating pipes 14, 17. When the difference between the measured temperature values has deviated from a set value, a motor 30 is driven through a transistor 27 to control the opening or closing of a solenoid valve 19 to regulate the flow rate of the constant-temperature liquid.
