Abstract

PURPOSE:To adjust carbon potential to a given value in a short time by a method in which an orgaic liquid is atomized by an ultrasonic vibrator provided to an organic liquid storage tank and also the supply of the atomized organic liquid into a carburizing furnace is controlled. CONSTITUTION:Organic liquids, e.g., methanol 10', isopropyl alcohol 11', etc., are stored in organic liquid storage tanks 10 and 11 whose central recessed bottoms provided with ultrasonic vibrators 12. The organic liquid atomized by the irradiation of ultrasonic energy is supplied through quantitative supply pumps 14 and 15 and control valves 16 and 17 into a gas carburizing furnace 1 by a supply pipe 18, where the organic liquid is thermally decomposed and takes part in the carburizing of a material 7 to be treated. The gas in the furnace is partly introduced into a CO2 gas analyzer 21 through a conduit 19 and the analytical signal Sa from the analyzer 21 is put in a CO2 gas recorder 22 to compare it with a set value. The atomized organic liquid amount control signal Sc of the recorder 22 is put in an atomization mechanism controller 23 to control the amount of organic liquid atomized by the ultrasonic vibrator 12.
