Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure the quantity of residual chlorine with high accuracy, by converting the residual chlorine containing in the solution to be measured into I2 by KI and carrying out controlled potential electrolysis of I2. CONSTITUTION:A solution containing KI and CH3COOH is added to a solution to be measured 6 is a receptacle 7 and residual chlorine in the solution 6 is converted into I2. The solution 6 is absorbed by operating a piston 11 and is introduced into a diaphragm tube 13 made of an ion exchange membrane. When a switch 5 is turned on in this state, a constant voltage is applied between an anode 24 and a cathode 25 and I2 is electrolyzed. This electrolytic current is detected by an ammeter 4 and its quantity of electricity is computed. This quantity of electricity corresponds to the quantity of residual chlorine in the solution to be measured.
