Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled foam having improved adhesivity to a synthetic resin foam, and remarkably improved flame-retardancy and heat resistance of composite foam, by coating the surface of a synthetic resin foam with a specific inorganic composition expandable at normal temperature.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of a synthetic resin foam (e.g. polyurethane foam) is coated with an inorganic composition expandable at normal temperature and containing an isocyanic acid ester (e.g. isocyanurate) to obtain the objective composite foam. The amount of the ester in the composition is pref. 0.5W10wt% (solid bases). The composition pref. contains, as essential components, the following 5 components: (A) an aqueous solution of an acid having a dissociation constant of ≤4 and having a pH of ≤1.5, (B) basic powder such as anhydrous alkali silicate, (C) a metal-based foaming agent, (D) a foam stabilizer such as silica, gel, zeolite, etc., and (E) an isocyanic acid ester monomer or prepolymer.
