Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled particle having remarkably shortened cooling time in expansion molding, by adding a higher fatty acid monoamide of a diamine to the surface or in the particle of a specific thermoplastic polymer, and heating the composition under specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: The objective particles can be obtained by (1) mixing (A) 100 pts.wt. of particles of a thermoplastic polymer (e.g. copolymer of styrene and other vinyl monomer) containing volatile foaming agent (e.g. propane) with (B) pref. 0.001W0.02pt. of a higher fatty acid monoamide of a diamine (e.g. stearic acid monoamide of ethylenediamine), and (2) heating the particles at 60W95°C pref. for about 2hr in water or in other liquid system which does not react with nor dissolve the polymer particle.
EFFECT: The foamed article manufactured from the particles has excellent appearance.
