Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled molded article having a specific density, a specific relation between the density and the compression stress, a water absorption of a specific value or below, little shrinkage under heating with time and improved lasting heat insulating property, by using crosslinked foamed polyethylene particles having a specified melting temperature.
CONSTITUTION: A molded foamed article of crosslinked polyethylene resin having the following essential conditions: The crosslinked polyethylene resin forming many fine cellular structures has a melting temperature of 107W124°C, and the density of the molded article is 0.25W0.05g/cm3. The relation between the density D and the stress F on compressing the molded article to a compression ratio of 25% satisfies the formula, and the water absorption is 0.3vol% or less on immersion of the molded article in water 25mm below the water surface for 24hr.
EFFECT: Improved compression creep resistant property, coating film adaptability and appearance and grade.
USE: A heat insulating material for houses or refrigerators, shock absorbing materials for packing and transportation, etc.
