Abstract

PURPOSE: Titled polyurethane foam that is made by dispersing the particles of powdery water-absorbing resin on the walls of foams containing open cells, thus having water-absorption, water-retention, moisture-absorption, moisture-supply properties and reversible water and moisture absorption and exclusion property.
CONSTITUTION: Particles of powdery water-absorbing resin such as acrylic or polyvinyl alcohol resin that is modified so as to become water-insoluble or hydrogel powders are dispersed in a liquid mix of the components for foaming polyurethane and the mix is foamed to form the bojective polyurethane foam having open cells containing the above particles on the foam walls. The size of the particles is preferably larger, when the size of foam is large, and fine, when foam size is small. The amount of the resin added appropriately depends upon the objective performance.
