Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled copolymer having specific density, excellent physical properties such as strength, and high quality, at a low cost, by copolymerizing ethylene with propylene or 1-butene and an α-olefin having specific carbon number in the presence of a particular catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: The objective copolymer having a melt index of 0.1W100 and a density of 0.91W0.945 is prepared by copolymerizing (A) ethylene, (B) propylene or 1-butene, and (C) a 5W20C α-olefin in the presence of (D) a solid catalyst obtained by the reaction of (i) an organic Mg compound (e.g. the compound of formula, etc.), (ii) a halide (most pref. a chlorosilane compound) and (iii) a combination of a titanium compound (e.g. titanium tetrachloride) and a vanadium compound (e.g. vanadium tetrachloride), and (E) an organic aluminum compound [e.g. Al(C2H5)3, etc.]. The amounts of the components (B) and (C) are 1W80 mol%, based on the component (A), respectively, and the molar ratio of B/C is 2/1W1/100.
