Abstract
PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain a medium- or low-density ethylene copolymer, by the partial slurry copolymerization of ethylene with an α-olefin, and by the separation of a solvent, followed by further copolymerization in vapore phase in the absence of the solvent.
CONSTITUTION: 0.1W60wt%, based on the amount of an ethylene copolymer to be ultimately produced, of a copolymer is produced, by copolymerizing ethylene with a 3W10C α-olefin, at 0W120°C, in the presence of a 3W4C inert hydrocarbon solvent, by use of a catalyst, comprising a solid catalyst component composed of a titanium compound and/or a vanadium compound supported on an Mg-containing inorganic solid carrier, and an organoaluminum compound, at a catalyst activity of 100gW 10kg of copolymer per gram of solid catalyst component. Then a medium- or low- density ethylene copolymer is obtained, by copolymerizing ethylene with the 3W10C α-olefin, in vapore phase, in the absence of the solvent, after separation of the solvent.
