Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the intermixing of air bubbles in an ink injection nozzle for obtaining a stable start-up of printing operation by a method in which before a recording head being capped is separated from a capping part, an ink is supplied to the recording head. CONSTITUTION:During nonprinting period, a printing head H is in capped state because its nozzle 4 portion is intruded on a capping part 31. During the start- up period, a valve is opened for one or two seconds while the recording head is in capped state, and then the valve is closed and the cap part 31 is removed, whereupon ink pressurized in the printing head H begins to overflow. The overflow ink 100 flows down to a waste liquid tank 36, but ink is held in a gap between the nozzle 4 and the capping part 31 under the influence of surface tension and well balanced with the open air with the aid of an internal pressure control plate for ink. Afterwards, the cap part 31 is turned in the direction of an arrow, the remaining ink 100 is scraped down by a doctor blade 32, and the printing head is set for printing condition, whereby permitting the stable start- up of printing operation.
