Abstract

PURPOSE:To widen an effective magnetic-flux variation range by enabling a unidirectional switching element to be used by applying a pulsating current to the primary side of a transformer through a switching circuit and applying a reverse bias amgnetic field to the core of the transformer prior to primary- side conduction. CONSTITUTION:The output of an AC power source 2 is converted by a rectifying circuit 3 into a pulsating current, which is applied to a primary winding 1a through a unidirectional switching circuit 4. The output voltage of a secondary- side smoothing circuit 5 is detected by a detecting circuit 7 to control the on- period of the circuit 4 through a primary-side conduction-phase-angle control circuit 6. Then, a current is supplied from a control-current supply circuit 8 to a control winding 1c right before the circuit 4 turns on and a reverse bias magnetic field is applied to the core 1h of a power transformer to widen the effective magnetic-flux variation range of a core 1h. Consequently, a unidirectional element whose on-off control is easy is made usable as the circuit 4 and a large output is led out of the power transformer.
