Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the loss and protect a rectifying element from application of the high reverse voltage by applying a secondary winding to a smoothing circuit choke coil connected to the output terminals of a rectifying circuit. CONSTITUTION:A secondary winding N2 for bias is applied over a primary winding n1 of a smoothing circuit choke coil L1 and the voltage induced in a secondary winding N2 of a transformer T1 is applied to this secondary winding n2 via a resistor R1 and a diode D2 which is of the same polarity as a diode D1. The load direct currentIflows to the conductive direction of the diode D1 by the induced voltage in the secondary winding N2 of the transformer T1 and simultaneously the direct current i flows in the secondary winding n2 for bias, so that a magnetic core of the choke coil L1 is saturated and the loss is reduced. When the reverse voltage is applied the diode D1 is not conductive and the diode D2 connected to the secondary winding n2 is not conductive either. Accordingly the direct current i does not flow and the magnetic core of the choke coil L1 is not saturated and has high impedance, so that the high reverse voltage is not applied directly to the diode D1.
