Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a small size and exact range finder by placing between the object piece and eye piece of a telescope a reflecting plate that is placed at 7- 35 deg. to the optical axis and reflects infrared light and passes visible light and emitting and receiving infrared light. CONSTITUTION:A telescope comprising an object piece 1, focal lens 3, a pair of facig prisms 4, a reticle 5 and eye piece 6 is provided. A dichroic mirror 2 which reflects infrared light and passes visible light is placed behind the object piece 2 with an angle theta (in the range of 7-35 deg.) to the optical axis of the telescope. A light wave distance measuring section 8 that is facing opposite to the dichroic mirror is installed in the cylinder of the telescope. The light wave distance measuring section 8 consists of an illuminating element 11, prism mirror 9 and condenser lens 12, light receiving element 10. The infrared light reaches the light receiving element 10 after reciprocating between the dichroic mirror and a reflecting target at which the telescope is aiming. The distance is calculated by the phases of this infrared light and the direct light from the prism mirror 9. This principle can be used to manufacture a range finder of small size and easy use.
