Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the setting of damping force and the simplification of the mechanism of a hydraulic cylindrical buffer, which is used for a vehicle or the like and in which the interior of a cylinder is divided into two chambers by a piston, by causing working oil to flow through a passage jointly used for expansion and compression. CONSTITUTION:In a piston assembly 2 dividing the interior of a cylinder 1 into to two oil chambers, a piston 40 is provided with annular recesses 46, 46 between an inner cylindrical part 44 and peripheral edges 42 at the right and left sides of the piston and six oil passage 48 are provided to connect the recesses to each other. Steps 50 are provided between the peripheral surface of the cylindrical part 44 and the recesses 46. Check valves 52 are mounted on the steps 50. Shims 61 are fixedly fitted to apply preset pressure to the check valves 52. Leaf springs 68, 70, each of which is made of a plurality of laminated thin spring sheets, are provided outside the check valves 52 and push-held by holding members 72 so that valve plates 82, 84 are constituted. The number of the laminated sheets of the leaf spring 68 on the oil chamber 15 at the side of a rod is smaller than that of the other leaf spring 70 on the other oil chamber 16.
