Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the number of parts in a field chopper control device by connecting the circuit of an overvoltage suppressing thyristor to the rear state of a current detector in a shunt field circuit, thereby detecting the erroenous firing of the thyristor commonly by the current detector of the field circuit. CONSTITUTION:A series circuit of an overvoltage suppressing thyristor 12 for protecting an armature coil 3 against the voltage rise of a power source 1 and a resistor 11 is connected to the rear stage of a current detector 10 of a shunt field circuit having a shunt field coil 5 and a chopper circuit 8, thereby detecting the erroneous firing of the overvoltage suppressing circuit from the current detector 10. In this manner, the erroeous firing of the thyristor 12 and the overcurrent of the shunt field circuit can be detected by only one current detector 10, thereby reducing the number of parts.
