Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the lowering of the titer of digestive enzyme caused by the extract of Japanese belladonna in a medicine for the stomach and bowels, by compounding digestive enzymes with Japanese belladonna extract treated with gelatin.
CONSTITUTION: A stabilized medicine for the stomach and bowels containing digestive enzymes and the extract of Japanese belladonna, can be obtained by treating the Japanese belladonna extract with gelatin. The gelatintreatment is carried out e.g. by adding the extract of Japanese belladonna and if necessary, a vehicle to an aqueous solution of gelatin, mixing sufficiently, and drying. The amount of the gelatin is pref. 10W30wt% of the extract. The direct mixing of the extract of Japanese belladonna with the digestive enzyme causes the adsorption of the digestive enzyme to the tannic acid in the extract, and decreases the titer of the enzyme remarkably. The characteristic feature of the present process is the prevention of the above disadvantage by the gelatin-treatment.
