Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure the wall thickness of steel pipes of all sizes which flow in the line, by making a radiant ray beam have enough width and length, obtaining a lot of extent of counting, and giving a response swiftly.
CONSTITUTION: When a pinion 11 which is meshed with a rack 10 is rotation- driven by a driving motor 12, a frame 9 moves and scans a measuring system consisting of a light source 3 and a detector 4 of a radiant ray beam 2, in the direction transversing a pipe 1. A position of the measuring system at this scanning time is detected by a scale 13, and displayed by a scale display device 14. To this device are connected a counter 17 for counting the extent of detection in the radiant ray beam detector 4, latch circuits 15, 16, a signal processing machine interface 18, a motor control part interface 20, a motor control CPU21, a clock generating source 22, and frequency-dividing circuits 23, 24.
